M48 Tomahawk, Tactical Tomahawk, Tactical Axe, Nylon Sheath

 United Cutlery M48 Tactical Tomahawk

The M48-Hawk Axe does look wicked, United Cutlery has out done themselves with this tactical tomahawk.  It has a lot of blade surface on the front edge measuring 3 3/4″ across the cutting edge and the 7 1/2″ Tomahawk head is anodized AUS-6 stainless steel, it comes relatively sharp right out of the box. The Hawk Axe can be swung in any direction with little or no stress on your wrist. The secondary edge on the back of the head is has been relieve cut to a dull edge on both top and bottom for a cutting and piercing anything in its path. This unique combination, with the spike on the back edge and Hawk axe head make  an efficient personal defense and breaching tool.  I certainly wouldn’t want to be hit with it!!

Hawk Axe Handle and Balance

The M48 Hawk Axe is a perfect balanced weapon or tool, based on how you intend to use it. Well balanced and just the right length at 15 1/2″ to with either one hand or two. The handle is 30% fiberglass reinforced nylon, secured by 3 Torx Head bolts. The handle has a good gripping surface, not great though! It comes with a provision to loop a paracord for securing to your wrist. The other M48 Tomahawk’s that United Cutlery offers all have paracord wrapped handles that provide an excellent gripping surface. The tang is 3 1/2″ long and stops just below the lowest bolt, (not full tang) but that in no way throws off the feel or balance of the Hawk Axe.  The blade is a wicked sick design as it has a good head to toe ratio and the rear guard doesn’t disappoint one bit.

 M48 Tactical Tomahawk Sheath

Sheath is made from black nylon and it is sewn and riveted on the corners around the top ans ends to last through any abuse. The M48 Tomahawk slides up from the bottom into the sheath and 4 large snaps hold the Tactical Tomahawk secure for side carry.  This seems to be a safer way to extract the tactical axe from the sheath. The sheathe fits  reasonably good but could have been better in terms of perfect fitting.

A Cool Looking “Tactical Tomahawk” at a Great Value!

Thoroughly recommended for campers/trekkers and adventure enthusiasts. Or even for someone who just loves wicked blades with skulls engraved on them. I like tactical tomahawks because I like the idea of this very old type of weapon, updated for todays situations. I don’t “use” them like a warrior in our service might in a distant battle. For that purpose this hawk is very cool. One of the baddest looking of the current crop of tomahawks on the market.  If you want a very cool looking Tactical Tomahawk with some utility, buy it. If your life hangs in the balance, look elsewhere!
